What’s in this issue?
Old King Coal meets his Match, but the Nuclear Empire Strikes Back! Read tales of flotillas, bishop-bashing, blockades and occupations as the Rebel Alliance takes on the Empire. The rebels have also been hanging around in nets and on platforms, occupying and locking-on at coal terminals, and passionately attacking power station fences around the world, trying to shut ’em down. Mainshill protest camp continues to pro-actively resist open-cast mining — they climb, occupy, and by night, anonymous pixies sabotage. Who knows when they sleep — with a strong alliance with local villagers, they welcome YOU to come and play anytime, with a gathering at the end of October.

Want more? Radio-towers toppled, dams and trucks seized, naked oil streaks and green smears in defence of the wild, a shit dumped with shit…resistance to peat mining, genetic engineering, logging and Shell in Ireland, and for Vestas wind turbine factory and workers on the Isle of Wight.

Still not enough? Stopping Tesco, climate campaigning successes, runway invasions, more ecotage, and the EF! Winter Moot, plus contacts and upcoming dates.

Chile: Luxury cars, meat markets, bank branch vandalized

reported anonymously (translation):

“Santiago, between October 3 and 4, $hile. There are many reasons why we went out to disrupt the order of those who we consider our enemies. During an impromptu tour of the disgusting city, we found bourgeois property, butchers, doctors and bankers, those who protect and maintain their lives through this nauseating system of domination, those who love the monotony of work-consumption, aiming to get just a little power, that’s what gives them the tranquility they need to sleep at night.

reported anonymously (translation):

“Santiago, between October 3 and 4, $hile. There are many reasons why we went out to disrupt the order of those who we consider our enemies. During an impromptu tour of the disgusting city, we found bourgeois property, butchers, doctors and bankers, those who protect and maintain their lives through this nauseating system of domination, those who love the monotony of work-consumption, aiming to get just a little power, that’s what gives them the tranquility they need to sleep at night.

We sabotaged:
— 4 luxury cars (3 4x4 trucks and 1 car) had their tires split.
— 4 luxury cars were scratched with a sharp, metal tool, leaving chaotic designs ruining the expensive paint jobs.
— 6 meat markets ended-up with the locks on the doors and the padlocks on their shutters sealed with metal pieces and superglue.
— A psychiatric clinic was left with its doors glued.
— A BancoEstado bank branch was attacked with stones, resulting in two windows and the entry door shattered.

Symbols of progress and power, leading promoters of environmental destruction, from toxic substances and the use of fuel to the disgusting smoke they spew as they drive, they build the roads deforesting and killing thousands of natural hectares and following their progress lie the cold bleeding bodies of so many animals. Because of this we decided to attack these machines.
Mutilated and piled up bodies as mere objects of consumption, this is the image that doesn’t bother anyone, with a blindfold over their eyes; anthropocentrism is responsible for making humans believe they are masters of the Earth, exploiting for their own well-being everything that exists on the planet. It’s because of this that we glued the meat markets, where the butchers had to replace and repair the locks and padlocks.
Centers of conditioning, repressors of inherent impulses that pigeonhole people according to their conduct; institutions that seek to change and mold us so we are adapted to their instruments of control, committed to exterminating all dissenting ideas of normalcy and order; that’s why we sealed the doors of a psychiatric clinic, while officials were still inside. In this place they don’t lock up the people who write diagnoses.
Institutions that promote exploitation and progress at the expense of crushing and enslaving people, animals and the earth.

For capitalism everything is a source of power and profit; introducing the ideology of power throughout the world, disguised in multiple forms; it is because of the power that the banks represent that we attacked a bank branch; with a large stone we hit the metal structure, breaking two windows and the door.

We know that these acts of sabotage were not an impediment to the targets and they will continue their work; it was only a momentary break and an inconvenience to those who saw the extent of our exploits.

This is a minimal gesture of solidarity and a greeting for all those who have felt the enemy’s blows on their skin, who have been encaged and separated from their loved ones. We salute our comrade Axel Osorio, who has demonstrated that the cages did not stop him and that his struggle continues from the dungeons, and to Cristian Cancino, accused of being a supplier of gunpowder, to comrades Pablo Carbajal and Matías Castro accused of the attack on the PDI. To comrades Daniel and Francisco, recently on trial in Italy for robbery and subversive association. To our comrades in Greece accused of belonging to a cell responsible for bombings, a cell which continues attacking, showing the futility of the powerful who accuse people who are unrelated to the attacks. To comrades in Mexico, where the powerful also kidnapped a comrade, holding him responsible for the September bombings, comrades stronger than the powerful who try to stop the attacks on authority.

The war has also cost the deaths of many comrades throughout the world, recently it took away our friend Mauri from us, the product of an accident that could have been avoided. Mauri will be remembered as the warrior that he was, loving comrades and desiring the death of enemies, a savage in the war against society, Mauri this is for you and as well as all the actions that are still to come!
For the companion Diego Rios, who 4 months ago made his escape and went underground refusing to fall into the hands of the authority. To him we say, flee, Diego, run and continue to expose the vulnerability of the powerful, from here we embrace every word of your communiques and with these actions we salute you.

We invite all the comrades who read this message to continue attacking the powerful on all fronts. We salute in the spirit of war, and we send our strength through action.

This is just the beginning!

Reclaim the Earth Centre at Doncaster — People needed for planned occupation

The Earth Centre in Doncaster has been left to ruin for 5 years. We intend to take it back. This site now owned by the council was developed to be a sustainable living education centre and community farm. It is currently being used as a firing range by weapon enthusiasts Cerberus Airsoft.

reclaim the earth centreThe Earth Centre in Doncaster has been left to ruin for 5 years. We intend to take it back. This site now owned by the council was developed to be a sustainable living education centre and community farm. It is currently being used as a firing range by weapon enthusiasts Cerberus Airsoft. Its time to bring this valuable resource back to the people before it is sold off for development.

The Earth Centre was developed on derelict land left over from former coal pits, it was intended to be the museum for the millenium. Initial plans were for a gradual development of the site, incorporating community-led projects and with much construction work being undertaken by Mowlem, who used the site to train apprentices. The first stage of that project opened in 1994, including a sustainable aquaculture centre and a community farm.

In 1995 the Millennium Commission made an award to Earth Centre, which became one of its Landmark Millennium projects. The site was completely redesigned and virtually all existing landscaping and projects were destroyed, which lost the goodwill of the local community who felt excluded from the project. From 1996 work progressed on the remediation of the remaining polluted land and the design and construction of the many buildings and exhibitions.

In September 2004 the attraction closed to the public, and only pre-booked school parties were allowed. By the end of October, the Earth Centre, monument to Sustainability, was to the money men un-sustainable and was put in the hands of administrators. It is now in the hands of the Council who surprise surprise have made no effort to return it to its original intent. Instead the council chooses to allow access to Cerberus Airsoft a company specialising in providing war games and shooting outings to a select membership group. General public will be thrown off by the police!!

We think that this is an amazing site and the original concept behind the Earth Centre is a fantastically intelligent way of educating communities about sustainable living. It is now the time to return the Earth Centre to the people.

We need support in many forms to make this happen. To begin with we need people to come and help occupy the site, we will need tools and volunteers. This is a great opportunity for anyone that has been wanting to live in a community, in an eco village setting and a real chance to put South Yorkshire on the map for environmental education and lifestyle.

We’re planning a swoop on the site and then aim to transform it so that everyone can use it and benefit from its resources.

Please help contact — thereismore2lfefolks@yahoo.co.uk

This is a very urgent matter!
The following story was published in local paper ‘Peterborough Today’ 15 February 2007

DONCASTER Council is poised to sell off the ill-fated Earth Centre to developers after admitting running costs mean it would be “extremely unlikely” it could be used by community groups.
The probable fate of the 200 remaining acres of the former £38 million green visitor attraction was revealed in the council’s Corporate Asset Management Plan, presented to councillors last week.
The Earth Centre has been mothballed with 24-hour security patrols since it was wound up in 2004.
The Asset Management Plan presented to a meeting of the Economy and Enterprise Scrutiny Panel describes the Earth Centre as “extremely unlikely to find sustainable use from community or other not for profit groups because of the very high cost of running and maintaining both the buildings and the grounds.” The report goes on to say that a “disposal solution” would be the “only viable option” for the site.
Ripon-based Pearson Developments Limited have submitted a planning application to build 300 houses, flats and offices on 17.5 acres of the 30 acres the company bought from the Millennium Commission. This land includes the former car park area and the lodge facilities.
Doncaster Council owns the remainder of the 200-plus acre site, including greenbelt land and the showpiece conference centre and galleries.
Their report adds: “Adjacent land owned by the Millennium Commission was sold in spring 2006 to a developer and discussions are in hand regarding a possible sale of the council’s landholding potentially to the same developer.”
Former Earth Centre member Bernard Pearson said: “All the money spent there was spent by the Millennium Commission from lottery money — I think the people who have paid into this should be taken into consideration. I don’t think the Council has tried very hard to get rid of it.”
Mr Pearson, who claims the maintenance bill for the site is in the region of £30,000 per month, added of the likely sell-off: “I think it is sad but it was what one would expect after two and a half years. I would look forward to seeing what proposals are put forward for the site. A lot of public money was invested in the site and I would hope the public will get something out of the arrangements.”
Opened in March 1999 as one of the Government’s flagship millennium projects, the Earth Centre was originally billed as an ‘environmental theme park’.
But the projected visitor numbers failed to appear. A relaunch in 2001 saw the centre rebranded to appeal to business and education users, but its fortunes did not revive enough for the attraction to break even. It went into liquidation in 2004 and has been mothballed ever since.
Nobody at Doncaster Council was available for comment this week.

We will not allow this to happen action must be taken!

The Earth Centre is key in educating the world about the effects of climate change and sustainable living solutions

Check out what it’s got to offer!

We visited a sports car dealership and among the cars there was a Hummer as well as others; the message was clear, EARTH-DESTROYING MACHINE ELF. We set approximately 7 cars on fire, leaving them unusable. These attacks are not by eco-terrorists but are by people who have turned their tears into action and their frustration into rage. Our groups are being sought and investigated by police in addition to the trashy press which is harshly critical of us. It is clear that our attacks are not to hurt people; they are aimed at the economy of a system that destroys the environment and exploits animals. We will not stop these acts because the ALF and ELF are decentralized groups so that if they catch one group other people will continue with attacks.

SHAC’s Operation Liberation — Open Letter to the Cops!

- VIDEO OF POLICE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgV8p1KavSk

An open letter to all police officers involved in the policing of SHAC’s Operation Liberation protest on 26th September 2009.

Dear Police,

- VIDEO OF POLICE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgV8p1KavSk

An open letter to all police officers involved in the policing of SHAC’s Operation Liberation protest on 26th September 2009.

Dear Police,

Yesterday protesters from around the country came together to take part in Operation Liberation a protest organized by SHAC as part of a campaign to close down Highgate Farm who breed rabbits and ferrets for animal testing.

The police on the day did not let the protesters go down to the farm and the protest was a static demo away from both the farm and the village. You used an unmanned drone to observe the demo as well as lines of cops and police vans all around us. While it has been argued in the past that drones would be used to limit police numbers the number of police was huge. You drew a line on the path and wouldn’t let anyone past it. One officer even move people back who’s shoes were slightly over the line another push someone back without even asking the protester to move!

The police seem intent on provoking another Newchurch by preventing effective peaceful protest and building up anger by antagonising the national animal rights movement. If you want to show people that keeping to cooperative protest is a good idea, putting them at the end of a lane away from their target and being totally inflexible isn’t a great way of going about it!

I know there are some police trying to avoid another Newchurch. However it seems you have been manipulated by a particularly extreme element in your ranks that needs to provoke the movement to keep its funding. NETCU and similar units seem to be in a very bad way in terms of resources and in this recession they need to manipulate you to keep the funds flowing away from your local policing priorities and to line the pockets of there cosy little number. They don’t want to see the movement cooperating with you because that will make them unnecessary.

Many of you may already be angry that money has in the past been wasted on such units. Do you really want funds to be taken from you and used to sent a car of two or more specialist officers from faraway to a small peaceful protest that could easily be dealt with by your beat bobby (or PCSO) in two minutes flat?

You have probably been told that the animal rights movement has been frozen by the SHAC trials, this is not the case. The movement is getting up, shaking itself down and deciding it’s direction. Where are you going to push it towards?

See you on the streets,

An activist.

Five fur farms closed down after ALF actions

“August 2009

The Animal Liberation Investigation Unit (ALIU) announced the final closure of 2 mink farms in Italy.

- The De Nardi farm in Vittorio Veneto (TV) was found locked and long abandoned. Instead of mink in the sheds, some sheep roam.
We entered the farm at nightfall and we found some cages with birds inside.
Although our aim was only to document the closure of the farm, we could not leave these beautiful animals locked in tiny cages, so we smashed the cages and watched the birds fly away.
De Nardi until a few years ago was president of the Italian Mink Farmers Association.

- The Anipel mink farm in San Martino Buon Albergo (VR) is finally closed. All cages and sheds are empty. Some sheds were being dismantled and cages were stacked outside along with a truck for sale.
The walls of the sheds still have messages painted by activists who previously visited this farm, and the building that houses cold storage and warehouses has no roof, which was probably destroyed in the fire of 2006.
A dozen dogs are still confined on the grounds of the farm.”

The anti-fur network Offensive gegen die Pelzindustrie has announced that three fur farms in Germany have closed down, farms that until recently imprisoned thousands of mink.

Among the farms was one near the city of Melle that was visited by the A.L.F. in January 2007 when hundreds of empty cages were destroyed. The farm never rebuilt following the action.

DSEi Arms Fair Exhibitor and SHAC Protests in Cambridge

On the 8th of September 2009 protesters headed to two Cambridge targets named in the map of DSEi arms fair exhibitors and the Cambridge office of BDO who have given a massive loan to the most exposed animal testing lab in the world Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS).

The arms trade leads to the death of humans and non-human animals alike and the protesters want to show there cross movement solidarity with all movements fighting for a just and kind world. HLS test sweetener, GMOs and pesticides on animals and has a history of animal welfare violations and falsifying data.

The small group of protesters headed to…

DESi Exhibitor: Mott MacDonald
Demeter House, Station Road Cambridge CB1 2RS

Arriving at reception protesters told the lady at the desk why they where there and asked to speak to the manager. But the manager didn’t want to talk.

Protesters decided to hold a protest in the reception area and unfurled a banner which the receptionist promptly folded over with protesters promptly re-opening it again! After a bit a staff member decided to drag the protesters out. He began dragging a protester across the floor ripping the protesters t‑shirt. The staff member then stop to grabbed a female protester pushing her out the door. The remaining campaigners held on to each other staying in the office as the staff member tried to pull them across the floor.

The manager of the Cambridge office came down because of all the commotion and told the staff member to stop. The protesters sat down with him and have a long discussion with him about the arms trade. He apologised to us for the staff member who attacked us and admitted he wouldn’t have spoke to us apart from because of what happened. He said he would be filling in paperwork to inform the company about the protest.

Protesters went to the doors of the office block BDO is located in and pushed the buzzer and told the company who they were. An assistant popped down and spoke to them and said he didn’t know anything about it and said he didn’t agree with the cruelty they described to him. He went back up to his office, but the protesters didn’t really feel there issue had been addressed so they went up as well.

A security guard stopped them and protesters explained they just wanted to speak to the people in the office. He didn’t let them go up but did let them wait in the reception area while the company phoned head office. One cop turned up and the security guard said the protesters had been peaceful and went to check about BDO who now said it was nothing to do with the Cambridge office but they didn’t know about the rest of the company! Protesters explained that wasn’t good enough and went outside to voice our opposition on the megaphone.

BDO’s Cambridge office now know about the issue and now have a chance to act and tell their bosses to withdraw the massive loan that is helping keep HLS afloat.

Campaigners headed to the office of Akins to let them know they object to their company’s involvement in the arms trade. The site manager came and spoke to them and the protesters told him why they were there. His attitude didn’t seem great, but he listened. Protesters unfurled their banner and staff rang the police.

They explained to the manager that they wanted him to contact Head Office to let them know about their objections he refused at first, even referring to the protesters as terrorists at one point when they said trespass was a civil matter, but eventually phoned his head office.

The police arrived and told the manager to tell protesters to leave so they left. The police asked for protesters details but were denied them.
